Hey, That Thing Got a Hemi?
November 18, 2002 – 11:07 amLiam has been so cute lately. He seems to be crying less and smiling so much more. He is also becoming much more reactive to people and things around him. There are certain sounds that he likes and that make him laugh. One thing he laughs at is raspberries (aka: Bronx cheer), he even makes them himself sometimes. He does it and then smiles at himself. That just cracks me up.
Yesterday I was horsing around and quoting that awful, annoying Dodge commercial. I looked at Liam and said in a kind of gruff, loud voice “Hey!” Then when he startled and looked at me – the source of the noise – I would say “That thing got a Hemi!?” and he would just laugh and smile so big I thought his face might break. It didn’t, though, so don’t worry.
He also enjoys getting his diaper changed; I think he just likes being naked. He’s been playing this game lately where he waits to pee until his diaper is off, then he just lets it fly and has a merry old time. For some reason his mom is not as amused by this as he is.

I thought it was funny too, the first dozen or so times I saw it. The next thousand times it wasn’t so funny anymore. I swear there were about three weeks there where every show on every channel showed that ad during every break!

Ok. Listen up, redneck. If you pull your head out and actually read the printed words above, you will realize it is the comercial I find annoying. The Hemi, I am sure, is a fine motor. Hopefully, however, most of the people who have one are more literate than you seem to be.

It is a great motor. But, the commercial does get old. I like the newest commercial where the couple and their kid is riding in the new Durango, and the dad shows the kid the engine. “Here’s all you have to know. Hemi. Can you say Hemi?” Little kid says, “Hemi.” It was a Ford, they’d have advertised the grill, cupholders, or some other pointless thing. (Wishes his truck had more cupholders, though. LOL)

Don’t you just love it when your site gets ranked #1 on google for some pop-culture phrase that happens to be on everyone’s mind for whatever reason and then your comment page turns into the unofficial homepage for said phrase?
